    Charlie Day is an American television, film, and voice actor, as well as a producer, screenwriter, and director. His best-known role is the character Charlie Kelly on the sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He has appeared in the black comedies Horrible Bosses and Horrible Bosses 2, as well as the sci-fi films Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising. He has voiced characters in the animated films Monsters University and The Lego Movie.     Charles Peckham Day was born on February 9, 1976, in The Bronx, New York. His father, Thomas Charles Day, is a retired music history professor who worked at the Salve Regina University in Newport. His mother, Mary Peckham Day, is a retired piano teacher who worked at The Pennfield School in Portsmouth. He has an older sister named Alice Day. Although he was born in New York City, he spent his childhood living in Middletown, Rhode Island.

    Day attended the Portsmouth Abbey School and the Pennfield School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. In 1998, he earned a bachelor’s degree in art history from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. During his time at college, he studied acting at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. He was also involved with Onstagers, the theatre organization at Merrimack College. He performed at the Huntington Theatre in Boston in the play Dead End.

    In 2000, Day appeared in the TV film Mary and Rhoda. The following year, he starred in the short film Late Summer. He then appeared in the film Campfire Stories. In 2002, he had a small role in the American-Czech action comedy thriller film Bad Company. He then starred in the films Love Thy Neighbor and A Quiet Little Marriage. In 2010, he appeared in the romantic comedy Going the Distance.

    In 2011, he took one of the lead roles in the black comedy Horrible Bosses. The film depicts the story of three employees who conspire to kill their bosses.
