Derek Fisher is a famous former American basketball (NBA) player and coach. His full name is Derek Lamar Fisher, and he was born on the 9th of August, 1974 in the state of Arkansas. He completed his education from the University of Arkansas.

Derek began his basketball career during his University life. Moreover, he was awarded the Sun Belt Conference’s Player of the Year award due to his excellent performance in the team in his final year.

Derek played at the position of a point guard, and he is also lucky enough to have played along with the great Kobe Bryant and another maverick of the game Shaquille O’Neal.
Derek was fortunate enough that his team did a hat trick of winning NBA championship from the year 2000 to the year 2002 and won the remaining two champs. Derek is also known for the jump which he completed in just 0.4 seconds in Western Conference Semifinal and is considered one of the best sporting moments.
During his career, Derek went on to play for Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors, but he returned to the Lakers in 2007. Derek retired after the season of 2013, and at that time he was associated with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Coaching
Derek kicked off his coaching career with the New York Knicks in 2014 after his retirement in the same year. Derek’s contract with the Knicks was for five years, and he got a whopping $ 25 million for this deal. However, his coaching stint at the New York Knicks lasted for only two years as he was replaced by the administration of the Knicks in 2016 because the team had a very bad losing record of 40-96.
After the coaching, Derek went on to work as a broadcaster in the same year (2016). He was hired by TNT's inside the NBA to present his analysis on the games, and he also worked for the NBA TV.

Derek Fisher married his girlfriend “Candace Patton” in the year 2005. Derek has four children with Candace, and their names are:

Unfortunately, they took a divorce in 2016. With this divorce, Derek suffered a significant financial setback as he had to pay the US $1.3 million annually due to the spousal support. Nowadays Derek is in a relationship with the TV star Gloria Govan.
