Serayah is an American actress, model and a pop-oriented contemporary singer who got fame from her character Tiana from an American musical drama series Empire. Her complete name is Serayah Ranee McNeill. She is a Gemini and was born on 20th June 1995. The young multitalented 24 years old star was born in Encinitas, California and currently living in Chicago, Illinois.
In 2015, Serayah’s life took a miraculous turn when she was offered the role of Tiana Brown in Empire. She traveled the journey from an ordinary girl to a television star in no time. Her character and versatile acting skills were praised by the audience and she became a strong and regular character of the musical drama series. During an interview with Black Enterprise (who covers African – American businesses), she said that “One thing I always say about this show is it's a lot of drama, but it's family drama so people relate. Every family has some type of drama, and I think that it touches on a lot of the entertainment business and the music business. Some exaggerated parts, but it really does touch on some of the things that happen."
She also featured in the video “Bad Blood” with the sensational star Taylor Swift. Apart from appearing in the seasons of Empire, Serayah also focused on her singing skills and gave her voice to the track “Don’t You Need Somebody”. She also appeared in the movie Lucky Girl (2016) as Lisa Jackson and Burning Island (2017) as Angel.
Who are Serayah’s Parents?
Serayah belongs to an African – American ethnicity along with some Irish, Scottish, and German roots because of her forefathers. She told that three of her grandparents belong to the black race whereas her paternal grandmother was a white lady.
She was born in Encinitas, San Diego to Joseph Eyres (father) and Kanika McNeil (mother). Although she has not disclosed many details about her parents or childhood but she has said multiple times in interviews that she shares a good bond with them and is grateful for the support they had given to her in every step of life. Her mother, Kanika is also her current manager and often seen along with her in different events.
Serayah moved to Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California to pursue her studies. She graduated from Taft High School where she was in the Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team of 2013. The contemporary vocalist was a bright student and always scored distinctions. She always wanted to become a singer but acting was a path, which fate has decided for her.

After making a successful name in the television industry, Serayah entered the film industry in 2016 in the movie titled, Lucky Girl. She played the character of Lisa Jackson. The movie was produced by New Kingdom Pictures. The multi-star film was directed by Greg Carter.
Later in 2017, she was featured in the drama movie Burning Sands and played the character of Angel. She shared the screen with Trevor Jackson, Alfre Woodard and Trevante Rhodes. The movie was premiered on January 2017 at the famous Sundance Film Festival and later in March 2017, Netflix took the rights to release the movie.
